8.00 am – Wake up from my dearest bed because of feeling panic for my piano practical exam that will ‘visit’ me soon.
8.20 am – Start my ‘Scales and Arpeggios’ practice. Practise legato first, then only practise staccato. Perfect one octave apart, major third apart, major sixth apart, I tried one by one. Everything is ok, just the staccato part still cannot really handle it well. Ok, never mind. Then I practise the chromatic minor third apart scales. My legato and staccato in this section was really really bad. I practised again and again and again. Finally it becomes ‘ok nia’. Then the whole tone scales. That one is the easiest out of all the scales. After that the arpeggios. One octave apart in root position, first inversion and second inversion, dominant seventh and diminished seventh, still ok.
9.30 am – Switch my practice to the exam pieces. ‘Sonata in D minor’ by Cimarosa is my first piece to be presented later. I still cannot overcome my shortness in the 4th page, especially the last two phrases. I practise again and again, but still have no improvement. I give up because it still left only 20 minutes for me to practise two more pieces. Then I played the second piece – ‘Allegro con brio: First movement from Sonata in B flat’ by Clementi. In the second sections, the climax, pooh~ all the semiquavers to be played in the speed of 126 per crochet, TOO FAST!!! ALL GONE!!! I give up. Then the third piece – ‘Alligator Crawl’ by Waller. This one still ok, could be the ‘Best of the Worst’... T.T ...
10.30 am – Arrived at Swiss Inn Hotel. Go up to Room 225(waiting room). Quickly memorise my aural notes in that 20 minutes.
11.00 am – Stepped into Room 227 after washing my hands. That examiner makes me feel more panic than ever. She looked so strict!!! OMG!!! but I still throw my ‘unique’ smile to her >.< color="#cc0000">still ok...
11.10 am – Started my exam pieces. Play with my ‘super-panic’ and ‘super-expressive’ mood... >.< When I wanna play the note soft, it had no sound to come out; but when I play it loud, it seemed to be very loud... what the heck...
11.20 am – Aural assessment. Don’t know whether the three-part-phrase question is answered correctly or not, I think there were about two notes that I had sang wrongly. Identifying cadence? I think I’m wrong in that. Sight-singing and modulations still ok. But until ‘Answer questions in general’? Hahahaha... cool cool cool... pretty cool.... T.T She straight away want me to answer 5 questions immediately after hearing the song for only ONCE!!! Oh my goodness... She asked me to describe about the character, form, texture, period and style. OMG!!! SO MUCH!!! And what did she mean by ‘style’ ??? technical device??? whatever... then I just able to answer form, texture and period, because I had forgotten that there were two more questions else as I felt so panic by that time. And she also ask me what kind of dance is that if that piece is written in classical century but not romantic century(I answered classical century, that’s why she asked me abt that). WTH!!! My piano teacher didn’t even give me such kind of question before, and how do I know??? I can’t even figure out 1!!! OMG... then I started to guess. Sonatina? wrong. Sonata? wrong. eesh eesh... I can’t figure out!!! Then after abt 10 seconds, she said : ‘ok, let’s do the sight-reading.’ T.T the sight reading was in 'five-four' time, an irregular tempo. Oh dear, I can’t really handle it!!! Fortunately the notes were not that hard, otherwise I maybe fail in this section too, because I had count the timing inaccurately. haiz~ whatever... fail... fail... FAIL!!!
11.30am – Before stepping out of the room, she said ‘Thank you for your exam. BYE BYE!!!’. She looked so weird when she says ‘bye-bye’ to me...
Conclusion :
pooh~ finally it is over. But this would be the ‘Worst of the worst’ compared to my last three piano practical examination. fail... fail... fail... no more distinction... no more merit... T.T
well...at least it is over and you can put down the heavy stone off your shoulder for some time...wait for the good news then.. ^^
